It’s not Delivery…It’s Homemade: Easy Whole Wheat Pizza Crust

First off, sorry for going MIA last week. It was the final week of classes before spring break and things were getting pretty hectic. I am glad to be home this week for some much needed time with family and friends and some good ol’ R&R. I was planning to take it easy this spring break, but things have been popping up and I have actually been busier than I was expecting!

Last night was really the first chance I got to spend some time in the kitchen and I decided pizza was a good idea. It had been at least a month since I had had the stuff and a craving needed to be satisfied. I’d have to say Pizza Hut is my favorite delivery pizza (nothing beats some stuffed crust), but that I actually prefer a home-baked pie.

Veggie-heavy pizza – just the way I like ’em!

Friday Faves #3

TGIF! While last week seemed to fly by, this one definitely dragged on. Maybe it had something to do with the cooler weather…but hey, at 40 degrees I’m not complaining.

What do you say we kick off this weekend right with a round of Friday Favorites! No fancy intro today – let’s just get to the good stuff. Continue reading

Today’s post wraps up the final segment in my Eat In: Save Dough series and is all about helping you save money and shop smart at the grocery store! If you missed the first two posts on food budgeting and meal planning/prep, be sure to check them out!

So I love to grocery shop.

A typical Aldi haul.

There’s nothing I like more on a Sunday morning than sitting down at the kitchen table with a mug of warm tea, pouring over the grocery ads from the Sunday paper (yes, my family is old school and we still have a print subscription to the local newspaper), and writing out my shopping list for the week. Friday Faves #2

Soooo can somebody please tell me where this week went?! I swear it was just Monday…

Although I still have some things to cross off my to-do list by the end of today, I really can’t complain because today is Friday. And better yet, this weekend is supposed to be gorgeous. Sunny and 60°F. Praise. The. Lord.

5 Ingredient Spring Vegetable Farro

Happy hump day friends!

Roasted sweets, spring vegetable farro, and herbed chicken = meal prep at it’s finest.

Man, am I loving Daylight Savings Time. Well, at first it was a little rough missing out on an hour of sleep, but the fact that it stays light out til 7 o’clock at night, definitely makes up for it!

The temps here in Madison have been soaring (yes, soaring) into the 50s all week, and with the extra daylight, it’s really starting to feel like spring! Yes, I know spring doesn’t officially start until next Friday, but hey, when I can go outside without bundling up like an Eskimo, it’s spring to me.

Besides the higher temperatures and more hours of sunshine, spring also brings new opportunities into the kitchen in the form of seasonal produce! April and May will soon bring produce treasures like crisp carrots, tender leafy greens, sweet peas, and bright stalks of rhubarb and asparagus to farmers’ markets and local grocery stores alike.

Friday Faves

Happy Friday!

Trying something new today! I have been reading healthy living and cooking blogs for a few years now, (and am so excited to have finally taken the plunge to begin my own) and one of my favorite things about them are all of the blogger link-ups. A link-up is essentially just a big ol’ virtual party! One blogger hosts and everyone else is welcome to link up their related posts – as a reader, you get to check out a bunch of posts on the same topic all in one place!

Today I am linking up with Heather at Life in Leggings for her ‘Friday Favorites’ series. Continue reading

Eat In, Save Dough: The Secrets to Meal Planning and Food Prep

Today it’s all about the plannin’ and the preppin’. If you missed my first post in the Eat In, Save Dough series about food budgeting, make sure to click here and get caught up!

Grilled chicken breast, roasted sweet potato, and veggies: a favorite easy to plan, easy to prep, go-to meal, of mine.

Anyways, let’s talk planning. I don’t know about you, but I am a big planner. I’m that girl who still has the old fashioned notebook planner and religiously pencils in just about everything. I like to know what is happening when, and I just about always seem to have an agenda set for my day. Now I have to admit that I don’t Continue reading
